The new Mercedes S-Klasse, images and official information

Mercedes has released the first official images and details with the sixth generation S-Klasse. The new model boasts an aerodynamic coefficient 0,24, Cd only uses LED technology for illumination, and promises new technological and safety standards for the next ten years, say the Germans.

Known internally as W222, the new Mercedes S-Klasse ni unfolds with a sophisticated design and sporty at the same time. The body has an aerodynamic coefficient 0,24, Cd and on the inside, the designers have worked on the concept "less is more", the lines being much simpler than we might have expected: the wheel has just two spokes and not make excessive buttons and center console goes on the same idea of simplicity.

Digital board instruments and information provided by multimedia system appear on two screens, each diagonal TFT of 12.3 inches (30 cm), which dominate the Board.

One of the technological releases made by the sixth generation of the model S-Klasse is represented by the exclusive use of LEDs for lighting. Specifically, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W222 is the first car series in the world that does not use even a traditional bulb (filament or economic).

So, nearly 500 LED lights inside the trunk, the road and the car itself. Of these, 56 are used for each lighthouse, 35 for every stop lamp and nearly 300 for interior lighting.

In terms of engines, this range is composed of versions of S300 BlueTEC Hybrid, S350, S500 BlueTEC and S400 Hybrid. The hybrid version is put in motion by a system composed of a 2.2-litre diesel engine that develops 204 HP electric drive and 20 kW. Declarative level, the Germans recorded a theoretical average consumption of 4.4 l/100 km. Sprint from zero to 100 km\/h is done in 7.6 seconds, and top speed is 240 km/h.

Mercedes-Benz S350 BlueTEC is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine that delivers 258 HP and 620 Nm. these values ensure a sprint from 0 to 100 km\/h in 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h, electronically limited, while the average fuel consumption is 5.5 l/100 km.

S400 Hybrid version combines a V6 3.5 liter gasoline that develops 306 HP with a 20 kW electric motor. Hybrid powertrain promises an average consumption of 6.3 l/100.

The fastest S-Class S500 series it comes with a gasoline powerplant 4.7 litre V8 that develops 475 HP and 700 Nm, enough to provide a sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, while top speed is limited to 250 km/h.

In Germany, market prices for the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class start at approximately 80,000 euros for the S350 BlueTEC with normal wheelbase and sar of 107,000 euros to top variant with enlarged wheelbase S500.
