SSC Tuatara, the 1350 hp supercar, is one step to production

The Americans from SSC announced that they had completed testing the series version of the 6.9 liter, twin-turbo V8 engine wihich will equip the new Tuatara, the 1350 hp supercar which promises to dethrone Veyron.

SSC Tuatara, the American model that promises to overthrow Bugatti Veyron, has its engine ready for production. Its creators, SSC North America, say they completed testing the prototypes prefiguring series engines, the V8 twin-turbo being ready for production. The 6.9 liter engine develops 1350 hp and 1733 Nm using fuel with an octane number of 91. SSC say that the engine range may even develop to over 1700 horsepower, but they didn’t specify whether they tested a prototype yet.

The American company promises that Tuatara will be a docile supercar, having several driving modes, enabling daily use in open circulation. Moreover, SSC America say that this model will be able to move smoothly  from circuit to street driving and back, eliminating the necesity for further adjustments or other changes. This statement is meant to emphasize the expertise behind this supercar, in an attempt to demonstrate the reliability compared to other models of over 1000 horsepower., many of which being rarely used by their owners for various reasons, such as difficulties in daily use.

SSC engineers say they tested the engine at speeds up to 442 km/h in the lab and there were no technical problems. Basically, in addition to raw power and the possibility to be drived in every day use, this supercar is trying to play the reliability card, the producer trying to show the world the outstanding performance achieved both in terms of power and torque, and in terms of reliability.
