The next generation of the smallest
SUV in the current range of Mercedes-Bentz will not have an AMG performant
variant. The hypothesis was launched by an AMG division official.
The next generation of
Mercedes-Bentz GLK is scheduled for 2015 and it will be based on the MRA
platform, also used by the E-Klasse model. The fans of performant versions with
AMG logo will be disappointed. AMG officials say that the next GLK will not be
based on the AMG variant. “At this point we believe that there is no market for
such a model”, says Tobias Moers, chief of AMG models development.
Moers added that the situation could
change after the launch of the rival model, Porsche Macan, but right now the
chances of making a GLK AMG for the next generation are very thin.
