BMW could launch a new brand for the Chinese market

BMW and Brilliance are prepared to lauch a new brand for the Chinese market. The name of the new brand could be Zhi Nuo and the first model will be based on the BMW X1 model.

The Chinese market is extremely attractive for European auto manufacturers, so they adapted their offer to appeal to customers in Asia. BMW will soon launch the new brand especially designed for China, say sources close to the German auto manufacturer.

The Chinese press says that the new brand will be called Zhi Nuo, which in translation means “promise”. Other details of the new brand developed by BMW are yet to be expected, but it is speculated that the first model could be based on the current generation of the X1 crossover or the previous generation of 3 Series (E90). Although there is no official confirmation from BMW, this move is kind of obvious because the Chinese Government is forcing for European auto manufacturers to develop independent brands for China within existing partnership to avoid additional taxes. If BMW will launch a Chinese subsidiary brand, it will also recieve the right to build a new factory with their partner Brilliance in Shenyang.
