Honda CR-V has managed to win against traditional SUVs, becoming 2012's best-selling off-roader in the world. With a total of 635,256 units sold around the globe, Asian model has overcome names like Hyundai ix35 and Volkswagen Tiguan.
Despite the crisis period we are going through, SUV segment continues to be emerging. In a top of the most popular SUVs sold last year, Honda CR-V occupies first place with 635,256 units shipped.
Second and third places were claimed by Hyundai ix35 and Volkswagen
Tiguan, ranked within walking distance of each other, with 494,453, or
429,013 orders honored. The top is complemented by the old generation Toyota RAV4, located at 1,000 units away from third place.
Further, the list is populated by Ford Kuga / Escape (403,841 units),
Kia Sportage (387,142 units) and Nissan Qashqai (298,066 units), Dacia /
Renault Duster (295,096 units), Chevrolet Equinox (239,152 units) and
Hyundai SantaFe (237,562 units).
Premium SUV only managed to rank among the top 20 best-selling SUV was Audi Q5 (15th, 200,474 units). SUV car has overcome last year eternal rival BMW X3 ranked the number 26 (149,853 units).
The new generation may be purchased at a starting price of 19.990 EUR
excluding VAT and comes with a host of new safety technologies and more
efficient engines.
