Volvo has presented the first series S60 Polestar. The 350
horsepower model has the same weight as T6 R-Design version, but
accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
Volvo has built a production version of the S60 Polestar concept. The
performance version of S60 has a T6, 2,953 cc engine, which delivers
350 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and a maximum torque of 500 Nm between 2,800
and 4,750 rpm.The maximum turation of the unit equipped with Borg
Warner turbine with improved intercooler and stainless steel exhaust is
6,500 rpm. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h of this version is made
in 4.9 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250
km/h, as well as for its equivalents.
The chassis has Polestar Ohlins dampers, adjustable in two
directions, upgraded coil springs, reinforced suspension arms and more
rigid anti-roll stabilizers for both decks. The weight of the model is
identical to that of a standard S60 T6 R-design, respectively 1,684 kg.
The automatic transmission with six reports that comes in equipping this
model has a launch-control function, a modified software which assures
more power for the rear wheels and faster gear changing. As for safety,
it has performance breaks, all discs having the diameter of over 300 mm,
and the four discs are ventilated to provide top performance.
Tin terms of changes from a standard S60, this model has a Polestar
air diffuser, Polestar front splitters, Polestar interior trim, special
plate that explains the uniqueness of the model, Polestar aluminum
pedals and other small accessories from the performance division of
Volvo. The first production units will be delivered to the clients on
the second half of June 2013. Unfortunately for European Volvo fans,
the first batch of S60 Polestar goes directly to Australia.
