Skoda Octavia history began in the winter of 1959 when, at the plant in
Mlada Boleslav, started production of the two-door four-seater, designed
to replace the Skoda 440, also known as the Spartak.
With an independent suspension and engine block a clever
construction, Octavia became, in the early '60s, one of the stars of
the sport on four wheels. Later, during dominated by the
communist regime, 1960 - 1990, Skoda Octavia was promoted especially by
participating in various competitions, winning class victories in the
most famous rally in the '60s, '70s and '80s: 1000 Lakes, Acropolis ,
San Remo, Monte Carlo and RAC.
Octavia was the first model created on own after Skoda became part of the Volkswagen Group in 1991. Preparations
began in 1992, but the new Skoda Octavia was presented to the public
for the first time on the platform with the Volkswagen engine, only in
April 1996
In February 1998 Skoda Octavia Combi is launched at the Geneva Motor
Show, and in 2001 the Octavia RS, reinforcing promising sales success of
the saloon of the same name.
Over time, the Octavia has gone through various stages of rebranding the
Octavia Skoda Octavia I or the Skoda Octavia II, receiving a facelift
in 2008 and culminating with the third generation Skoda Octavia released
earlier this year ( 2013).
The third generation is be available for test drive in the showroom Brady since March 15, 2013.
